Formerly Lang Co was a fishing village with many white storks flying to gather and live. When the French arrived in Thua Thien - Hue, when naming places on the map, they recorded Vietnamese as "The Stork" but did not put a mark, so it became "Lang Co", and read it out with a European accent that sounded like "Lang Co".
