Procedures for applying for a visa to enter Vietnam for foreigners.

Foreigners who apply for a visa to Vietnam, Viet Kieu applying for a visa to Vietnam can apply for a visa at the Embassy / Consulate of Vietnam in the host country or at Vietnam's international airport (Tan Son Nhat Airport, Noi Bai, Da Nang)

Overseas Vietnamese embassies and consulates are official diplomatic missions of the State of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam. Foreigners who want to come to Vietnam can apply for a visa here.

1. Documents for applying for a visa to enter Vietnam at Vietnamese embassies or consulates abroad.

• The passport of a foreigner must be valid for at least 6 months;
• Passport is not torn or blurred.
• You must have an entry letter approved by the Immigration Department - Ministry of Public Security of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam allowing you to enter and receive your visa at the Vietnamese embassy or consulate at Foreign country (In the official dispatch, it must clearly state the name of the Vietnamese embassy or consulate abroad).

This Official Letter is issued by the Immigration Department and guaranteed by one of the following organizations:

+ Guaranteed by relatives of foreigners in Vietnam

+ Guaranteed by a company or an organization in Vietnam for commercial, business, market research purposes….

+ Guaranteed by a travel company for the purpose of visiting Vietnam

Note: This entry letter must be faxed by the Immigration Department - Ministry of Public Security to a specific Embassy / Consulate of Vietnam abroad.

2. What procedure for a foreigner to do to get a visa at the embassy / consulate:

• Present your passport;
• Presenting entry letter (Copy printed on A4 size paper)
• Fill out the form as instructed by the staff of the Vietnamese Embassy / Consulate
• Pay the visa fee at the Embassy / Consulate as prescribed, the 01-month visa is $ 25 and the 3-month visa is $ 50. (Payment is in Vietnam or USD)

Note: At the Vietnamese embassy / consulate abroad, foreigners must follow the instructions of the staff of the Vietnamese diplomatic mission to apply for a favorable visa.

1. Documents to be prepared before flying to Vietnam via Vietnam's international border gate (Noi Bai International Airport, Tan Son Nhat Airport, Da Nang Airport):

• The passport of a foreigner must be valid for at least 6 months;
• Passport is not torn or blurred.
• You must have an entry letter approved by the Immigration Bureau - Ministry of Public Security of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam allowing you to enter and receive a visa at international airports in Vietnam.

This Official Letter is issued by the Immigration Department and guaranteed by one of the following organizations:

+ Guaranteed by relatives of foreigners in Vietnam

+ Guaranteed by a company or an organization in Vietnam for commercial, business, market research purposes….

+ Guaranteed by a travel company for the purpose of visiting Vietnam

Note: In case of entering Vietnam due to visa exemption, no entry letter is required. Citizens of some countries are exempt from Vietnam visas such as Asian countries, Japan, Korea, Russia, Sweden ....

2. What procedures for foreigners to do to apply for a Vietnam visa at Vietnam's international airports:

• Present your passport;
• Present entry letter (Copy printed on A4 size paper)
• Fill out the form as instructed by the immigration officer at the airport.
• Pay the visa fee at the airport as prescribed, the 01-month visa is $ 25 and the 3-month visa is $ 50. (Payment is in VND or USD)
