On May 27, talking with Tuoi Tre Online, the leader of the Immigration Department, the Ministry of Public Security said that the Resolution 79 / NQ-CP of the Government recently issued was to concretize the Law on Amending and Supplementing a the number of articles of the Law on Entry, Exit, Transit, and Residence of Foreigners in Vietnam takes effect from 1-7.

Many people wonder and misunderstand from 1-7 electronic visa for citizens of 80 countries means reopening flights for foreigners to enter Vietnam. Understanding this is not true, because currently Vietnam has temporarily stopped entry with foreigners to prevent and control COVID-19. The reopening of flights for foreigners entering Vietnam must follow the policy of the government in each stage before the evolution of the COVID-19 epidemic.

Immigration Department leaders added that e-visas for foreign nationals previously piloted, from the effects that were later legalized.

Previously, according to Decree No. 17/2019, 35 countries with citizens were piloted e-visas. At this time, the whole country has 16 land border gates and 9 sea border gates allowing foreigners to enter and exit with electronic visas.

According to the Immigration Department, the issuance of e-visas is an administrative reform step based on information technology, which will boost the tourism industry more and more. Due to the pilot implementation over many years, infrastructure has been invested to ensure the smooth issuance of electronic visas.

Regarding the suspension of entry with foreigners, the Prime Minister has decided to suspend entry for all foreigners entering Vietnam, effective from 0h on 22-3-2020. All cases of visa exemption documents were issued to Vietnamese people and their relatives also temporarily stopped entry to prevent and control COVID-19.
In case of entry for diplomatic purposes, official duties and special cases ... issue visas if necessary and procedures for inspection, mandatory medical declaration, appropriate isolation.
