Post-Covid Travel-19: 50% choose short-term tours

The Tourism Advisory Council (TAB) has just reported the results of the Post-Covid-19 Inland Tourism Survey after three weeks of the end of the social gap, with the participation of 1,826 people.

Accordingly, tourism demand in Vietnam began to recover from mid-April when the social gap was relaxed, with more than 53% of the surveyors ready to travel this summer. According to the survey, Covid-19 has influenced travelers to choose safe travel destinations with disease (36%) and security (32%). In addition, preferential travel services are also the next option (nearly 20%).

After social separation, the demand for marine tourism increased (67%), followed by the demand for nature tourism (56%) with mountain resorts and eco-tourism. In particular, Covid-19 impacted budget spending, making nearly 50% of short-term tour options (2 to 3 days). Psychological fears about disease and social gap still make 89% choose to travel with family or groups of friends. In addition, Covid-19 has influenced the online shopping habit. There, this trend is reflected in the fact that tourists choose to book a direct tour (62%) and book a hotel / tour via an online platform (44%).

Also according to TAB, in terms of orientation, the stimulus program for domestic tourism should be communicated and marketed in the direction of considering this as a "beneficial opportunity" for Vietnamese people to explore the beauty of Vietnam. The guidance of MOCST and VNAT is needed. Along with promoting communication on services, tourist destinations safe from diseases and security for tourists to relieve the nervousness of tourists with the promotion program "Vietnam - Safe destination". . The stimulus program needs links between partners to create value-added services, such as airlines associated with hotels and travel agencies. Large businesses (airlines, travel groups) need to cooperate with each other and commit not to sell unsafe and poor quality products; Do not deceive customers with false advertising; Not selling at prices below direct production costs, not dumping ...

Recently, according to the General Statistics Office, in May 2020, international visitors to our country were the lowest in many years, down 13.6% over the previous month and down 98.3% over the same period last year. Generally in the first 5 months of 2020, international visitors to Vietnam were estimated to reach over 3.73 million, down 48.8% over the same period last year.
