Daily Express: Vietnam ranks first among countries that can reopen tourism as soon as possible
Date : 2020-05-29

WeSwap, the UK's largest peer-to-peer currency exchange platform, sees Vietnam as the country with the highest potential to restart the tourism industry in the world after the Covid-19 pandemic.

The Daily Express (UK) published a survey from WeSwap on the prospect of restarting the tourism industry of many countries in the world, of which Vietnam ranked first.

A few days ago, Vietnam was ranked as the country with the highest rank among 30 countries in the map of anti-epidemic effectiveness posted in Politico. Vietnam's economy is expected to grow by 2.7% in 2020, making Vietnam the most successful country to respond to Covid-19 globally.

However, this could not help the Vietnamese tourism industry to avoid heavy losses due to Covid-19. According to the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism, the tourism industry's losses from February to April 2020 were about US $ 7.7 billion and tens of thousands of workers in the industry lost their jobs.

According to WeSwap, Vietnam is the country with the highest prospect of reviving the tourism industry in the world. If Vietnam can take advantage of its existing advantages and quickly restore the tourism industry in particular and the entire economy in general, the damage caused by Covid-19 will soon be offset.

Besides Vietnam, WeSwap identified Fiji, Sri Lanka, and Seychelles as three other countries that could restore tourism from now.

Fiji has only 18 infections and no deaths due to Covid-19. Tourism accounts for 40% of Fiji's GDP, so the country is particularly hard hit by Covid-19. However, at the present time, it is still unclear whether Fiji himself can afford to launch his tourism industry.

Sri Lanka is a country that has had a booming tourism industry in recent years. The country has more than 1,000 infections and less than 10 deaths from Covid-19, much lower than neighboring countries such as India and Pakistan. WeSwap said the country could quickly reopen tourism.

The Seychelles is one of the most wonderful destinations in the world, having an extremely low rate of Covid-19 infection. The country has only a total of 11 cases of infection and no deaths. However, the country bans cruise ships until 2022, which means their tourism industry will remain dormant for a long time.

Matt Crate, CEO of WeSwap, said that freezing the tourism industry was an important part of the safety measures during the Covid-19 pandemic, but many countries would need to reconsider this industry to start a new business. restart their economy.

Hopefully, when the world can contain the disease, the tourism industry will be able to restart and the countries coping well with Covid-19 will be the leader of a safe tourism industry worldwide. .
