Date : 2020-05-26

T-money is a public transport card, used for the subway, bus, taxi. Some cases can be used to pay at convenience stores.

The T-money function is often integrated in various payment types (credit / debit) and discount cards for tourists. T-money is widely used to pay for bus and subway tickets in major cities such as Seoul, Busan and other places such as Geonggi-do, Daejeon, Incheon, Daegu.

Buy and top up T-money cards at the device.

When using T-money, public transport fares are 100 won cheaper than cash payments. However, unlike the cash fare, T-money can be used when transferring from one bus to another, one subway to another, from bus to subway. or vice versa (within the validity period) at no additional charge. In addition, T-money will facilitate the purchase of subway tickets for long trips. When you no longer need a T-money card, you can get your balance back with a service fee of 500 won. The price for a T-money card is 2,500 won or more.

T-money card locations: Convenience stores (GS 25, CU, 7-Eleven, Mini Stop, With Me, Buy The Way, Story Way) have T-money logos, and card loaders inside subway station (card vending machine).

Payment / Refund locations: All card sales locations. Please note that no refunds will be made.

How to use T-money card

If passengers do not swipe the card onto the sensor boxes when preparing to exit the bus or from the subway, they will have to pay double the base fare the next time they use the service and will not be entitled to the main Book discount when transferring vehicles. Therefore, be sure to swipe your card both when getting on and off public transport.

Bus

When boarding, place the card on the sensor with the T-money logo on the front of the bus until it beeps. The sensor will show the payment amount at the top and the remaining balance at the bottom.

Before alighting, place the T-money card on the sensor located at the back of the bus until it beeps. There will display additional fees, apply to long journeys and visitors will be applied the discount policy when converting to other public transport.

The subway

Place the card on the sensor with the T-money logo located at the top of each subway turnstile until it beeps. The sensor will display the amount paid above and the remaining balance at the bottom. If in public transport, the fare may be displayed as "0" won.

Place the card on the sensor when exiting the turnstile. There will also display additional charges for long journeys and visitors will be able to apply the discount policy when converting to other public transport.

Taxi

Today, many taxis accept T-money payments. In general, payment terminals are mounted between the driver's seat and the passenger seat. Notify the taxi driver that the passenger wants to pay by T-money card, touch the card on the terminal, and the amount to be paid will be automatically deducted from the card's balance. However, if the amount you need to pay is more than the balance on the card, then the whole balance will be discounted and the rest can be paid by cash or credit card…

Exemption and reduction when converting vehicles

The transfer discount is applied to the bus / subway fare only when using T-money. For example, when transferring a vehicle to travel within 10 km, if a passenger uses a T-money card, there will be no additional charge for each transfer. This is a much better deal than using cash, because if you use cash, you will have to pay the ticket every time you switch to another means.

You can transfer up to four times and the valid time for transfer exemptions is limited to 30 minutes after swipe. (Transit time is extended to 1 hour between 9pm and 7am the next day).

Other notes

For children and adolescents, visitors need to register the card with their date of birth in order to receive a discounted ticket price (ID card verification required).

A fine of 30 times of the ticket price when using T-money card or more for violations of card use regulations such as adults using children or youth cards to receive a discount.
