Student visas are very fundamental to the process of applying for studying in Japan. In order to make it easier and more convenient, let's take a look at these guidlines.

Types of japan student visas:

- Student visa for the purpose of language study: valid for 1 year and can be exended to the maximum of 2 years

- Student visa for specialized students, graduate or post graduate: valid for 1-2 year and can be exended to the graduation day.

Required documents for Japan student visas?

- Passport: valid for at least 6 months.

- Filled-in visa application form.

- 01 photo 4,5cm x 4,5cm (other than the photo attached on the declaration).

- Certificate of eligibility for residence in Japan (Please go to the nearest Immigration Bureau of the Japanese Ministry of Justice).

- Indentity documents (01 copy): If you go to a language school or study abroad, an admission letter is required. In addition to the above documents, the Embassy or the Ministry of Foreign Affairs may request additional documents. Failing to provide required documents might result in applicant being unable to apply for the visa or delayed issuance of visa.

Note: When submitting your application documents, remember to bring your ID card (you will leave it at the embassy gate - remember to take it back when you're done). If you are careful enough, you can bring extra pens, glue, photos and a few blank visa applications to if something goes wrong.

Where to apply for a Japan student visa?

- You can directly apply at the Embassy of Japan. the Japan Embassy in Hanoi (in charge of Northern provinces towards Dak Lak, Phu Yen) and the Japan Consulate General in Ho Chi Minh City (in charge of southern provinces). Please note that visa application documents should be sent to the Consulate General of Japan by fax or they will not be accepted.

- They receive documents from 8:30-11:30, Mon- Fri (except holidays)

Note: Incomplete profiles will be turned down. In this case you'll be given a list of what documents you are missing.

When you'll get the results?

- Processing time: At least 5 business days. After this time, the Consulate General will contact each applicant via phone calls.

- You can receive your results from 13:30- 16:45, Mon- Fri (except holidays)

- - If the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan must investigate or the Consulate General of Japan must interview the visa applicant, the visa processing time will be longer, so please remember to apply for an early visa so that your plan to study abroad won't be delayed. Kindly note that except for some humanitarian cases, emmergency visa issuance will not be considered.

- If the visa application is denied? 99% of applicant are issued a visa. And if your application is turned down, within 06 months, you can't not apply the visa for the same purpose (if your student visa application is denied, you will not be able to apply for it again in the next 06 months).
