Myammar travel tips
- Myanmar has a tropical monsoon climate.
- Summer here starts from March to mid-May, the weather is very hot and dry.
- The rainy season starts from mid-May to early October. Due to the influence of the southwest monsoon, the weather is pretty cloudy, rainy and humid during this time (Yangoon has the highest rainfall in August, Madalay is the most soaky in October).
- The cool weather season starts from October to February of the next year. Affected by the northeast monsoon, it's less cloudy, rainy, humid and cooler (In January, Yangoon can experience the lowest temperature of 17.5oC , Madalay has the lowest temparature of 13.5oC). This is the most beautiful time to travel to Myanmar.
- Since Myanmar is a Buddhist country, people here dearly vennerate Buddhism. Coming here, you should learn this fact and respect their beliefs and faith. People there are very friendly and smiley. They usuall greet by saying "Minglabar" which means Hello in Burmese. Do not forget to smile back at them!
- Do not wear strapless tops, shorts over knees when going to temples. Remember to remove shoes and socks outside when entering inside. Ideally, you should wear clothing like t-shirts and alibaba pants. It would be more convenient to for you to move around and also ensures cutural appropriation. There is also other options of wearing a T-shirt and shorts, but when visiting the temple, you need to wrap alongyi (like a long skirt - traditional costume of Myanmar women) around.
- Myanmar men still wears traditional clothes on the daily basis with a paso wrapping around their bodies ( a long sheet of cloth instead of pants) and eat betels.

you to famous tourist spots, costing about $ 10- $ 12 / person / day. It is quite convenient because Mandalay is very dusty (4 cities are dreadfully dirty) and the English-speaking driver will explain more interesting things. If you go alone, pair with another guest in the guesthouse or call a mototaxi.
- In Bagan, you can choose to travel by taxi, horse-cart or bicycle. Bicycles í recommended because Bagan has a flat terrain, moreover you can easily weave into the tiny dirt roads connecting the temples by bike. And this is also the cheapest means, (only $ 1- 1.5- 2 /bike/ day), depending on the time you rent. This is the number 1 choice if you are traveling alone. There are also electric bikes for those who are too lazy to pedal. If traveling in a small group, you can rent a horse cart all day, about $ 15- 20 / cart / day / 3-4 people.
- In Nyaung Shwe, you should rent a bicycle. Bikes in Nyaung Shwe are cheaper and more genuine than in Bagan (bicycles have numbers). Cycling around the small paths between the sugar cane fields next to Inle Lake (sometimes immersed in the fog of dust when a truck runs) brings you a very peaceful feeling.
- Night buses depart from both Yangon and Bagan, 2 trips daily at 8 and 9 PM, and arrive at the remaining places at 5 and 6 AM. You should choose JJ Express service(jjexpress.net) to use because they deliver services that just as good as those on an airplane. You will be served with cakes, water, coffee, tea, wet towels, tamarind candy. Pick-up bus are completely free of charge, you just pay about $ 20/way.
