Entering Hong Kong with a Passport / Travel Document from the People's Republic of China
I - Cases Exempted from Applying for an Entry Permit
Chinese passport holders transiting through Hong Kong from another country to a third country (or territory) may be exempted from applying for an entry permit and allowed to stay in Hong Kong for 7 days if their passport is valid and they possess an onward ticket. If the destination is mainland China or Macao, an onward ticket is not required. Chinese passport holders traveling from mainland China to a third country (or territory), after presenting an onward ticket and visa, or a valid residence permit (e.g., work permit, student visa) issued by the third country (or territory), will be exempted from applying for an entry permit and allowed to stay in Hong Kong for 7 days.
II - For other reasons to enter Hong Kong, or when carrying a Travel Permit from the People's Republic of China (whether transiting or entering Hong Kong), you must first complete the application for an entry permit.
III - Method, Documents, Issuance Time, Fees, and Payment Methods for Applying for a Visa and Permit
(1) Application Method:

Individuals applying to visit Hong Kong for tourism or fact-finding can submit their application to the Consulate (in special cases, the application may need to be transferred to the Hong Kong Immigration Department for review).

For other reasons to visit Hong Kong, applicants can contact and submit their application directly to the Hong Kong Immigration Department (Please visit the website of the Hong Kong Immigration Department for more information at: www.immd.gov.kh). Alternatively, the Consulate can forward the relevant application to the Hong Kong Immigration Department for review.
(2) Documents:

Passport: Must be valid for at least 6 months, with blank pages, and a photocopy of the information page with the applicant's photo.

Application Form and Photo: Complete the visa/entry permit application form and submit one passport-sized photo.

Proof of Residence in Vietnam: Original and photocopy of the applicant's Vietnamese residence permit/temporary residence document, such as a temporary residence card, work visa, student visa, etc.

Supporting Documents: Provide documentation proving the purpose of the visit to Hong Kong.
(3) Processing Time:

Processing time is 4 working days within the Consulate's review period.

For applications that need to be transferred to the Hong Kong Immigration Department, the processing time is not fixed and may take a month or longer.
(4) Fees:

If you apply directly to the Hong Kong Immigration Department, you must pay the entry permit fee as required by the Hong Kong Immigration Department.

If you submit your application through the Consulate, the entry permit fee is 10 USD per person (standard service).

For applications transferred to the Hong Kong Immigration Department, regardless of whether they are approved or not, an additional postal fee for transferring documents to the Consulate must be paid.
(5) Payment Methods:

If you apply directly to the Hong Kong Immigration Department, you must pay the entry permit fee as required by the Hong Kong Immigration Department.

If you submit your application to the Consulate, please pay the fee at the designated bank (Industrial and Commercial Bank of China, Hanoi Branch, Address: Daewoo Trade Center, 360 Kim Ma Street, Ba Dinh District, Hanoi, Phone: 0084-24-62698888). Hong Kong residents traveling to Hong Kong with a valid Hong Kong Special Administrative Region passport, permanent identity card, Hong Kong Identity Card (CI), Hong Kong Seafarer's Identity Document (excluding stowaways), or a "British National (Overseas)" passport will be exempted from visa or entry permit requirements upon entering Hong Kong.
Macao Residents Traveling to Hong Kong
I - The following cases of Macao permanent residents are exempted from applying for an entry permit to Hong Kong for tourism, with a maximum stay of 180 days: (1) Macao permanent residents holding a valid Macao permanent identity card and meeting normal entry requirements. (2) Individuals holding a "Macao Resident Travel Permit for Travel to the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region" and those with a Macao permanent resident identity document.
II - Non-permanent Macao residents holding a "Macao Resident Travel Permit for Travel to the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region" can be exempted from applying for an entry permit to Hong Kong for tourism, with a maximum stay of 30 days.
III - Holders of Macao Special Administrative Region Passports and Macao Travel Documents: If transiting through Hong Kong to another country or territory, and meeting normal entry requirements, including possessing a valid entry document for the destination and a confirmed onward ticket for land/sea or air travel, they may be exempted from entry documentation and allowed to stay in Hong Kong for a maximum of 7 days.

Taiwan Residents Traveling to Hong Kong
I - Holders of Taiwan Resident Travel Documents for travel to mainland China, if meeting normal entry requirements, whether transiting through Hong Kong to mainland China or visiting Hong Kong for tourism, are allowed to stay in Hong Kong for no more than 30 days as visitors and are exempted from applying for an entry permit.
II - Taiwan residents living on the island of Taiwan, depending on the purpose of entry, must apply for an entry permit with the Hong Kong Immigration Department through an authorized airline or a guarantor in Hong Kong.
III - Taiwanese compatriots residing overseas traveling to Hong Kong, if they do not hold a Taiwan Resident Travel Document for travel to mainland China, can apply for a travel document with the nearest Chinese Embassy and Consulate General, and simultaneously apply for a Hong Kong entry permit.
IV - Eligible Taiwan residents can also apply for pre-registration for free entry into Hong Kong for tourism through the "Hong Kong Government One-Stop" website (www.gov.hk.par).
Vietnamese Citizens Traveling to Hong Kong
I - Vietnamese citizens traveling to the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, regardless of the type of passport held, must obtain a Hong Kong visa.
II - Vietnamese citizens transiting through Hong Kong without leaving the airport do not need a Hong Kong visa.
III - Visa application methods, documents, processing time, fees, and payment methods:
1- Application Method: You can contact and submit your application directly to the Hong Kong Immigration Department or through the Consulate.
2- Documents: Depending on the purpose of your visit to Hong Kong, fill out the application form and provide relevant supporting documents. Please log on to the Hong Kong Immigration Department website for detailed information at www.immd.gov.hk; Telephone: 00852-28246111.
3- Processing Time: Determined by the Hong Kong Immigration Department, the processing time is not fixed. It usually takes 1 month or longer.

Third-Country Nationals Traveling to Hong Kong
I - Foreign nationals visiting Hong Kong for short stays or tourism: To determine if a visa is required, please log on to the Hong Kong Immigration Department website for detailed information at www.immd.gov.hk; Telephone: 00852-28246111.
II - Foreign nationals intending to work, settle, perform, organize exhibitions, study, receive vocational training, or undergo industrial and commercial training in Hong Kong must apply for a visa from the Hong Kong Immigration Department in advance.
III - Visa application methods, documents, processing time, fees, and payment methods:
1- Visa Application Methods: (1) You can contact and submit your application directly to the Hong Kong Immigration Department. (2) Submit your application to the Consulate (some applications need to be forwarded to the Hong Kong Immigration Department for review).
2- Documents: (1) Passport: The passport must be valid for more than 1 month beyond the visa's validity period and period of stay, have blank pages, and include a photocopy of the passport's information page with a photo. (2) Visa application form and photo: Fill out the relevant application form according to the purpose of visiting Hong Kong and submit a photocopy of the passport's information page.
