China visa categories
There are different visa categories depending on subject and purpose of entry:
Visa C - Issued to foreign employees working in international means of transportation such as trains, airplanes, ships and road vehicles. Accompanying family members will also be granted this type of visa.
Visa D - Issued to people who come to China to settle.
Visa F - Issued to people who come to survey, interview for a short-term technology exchange and to practice for no more than 6 months in China.
Visa G - issued to people in transit.
Visa J1 - Issued to international journalists and journalists permanently residing in China.
Visa J2 - Issued to international journalists who come for urgent interviews.
Visa L - For people traveling to or coming to deal with personal problems in China.
Visa M - For people traveling to China for commercial purposes.
Visa Q1 - Issued to family members of Chinese citizens or members of foreign families legally residing permanently in China. The goal is to reunite with families or guarantors.
Visa Q2 - Issued to relatives of Chinese citizens or foreigners permanently residing in China for the purpose of visiting relatives in a short time.
Visa R- For foreigners with talents and professional skills that China is in need of.
Visa S1 - Issued to parents, spouses, or parents-in-law or children under 18 of foreigners working in China. with the purpose of visiting relatives or dealing with personal problems and wanting to stay in China for a long time.
Visa X1 - For long-term students studying in China.
Visa X2 - For short-term students studying in China.
Visa Z - Issued to people working in China.
Required documents for China visa application
- A filled-in China visa application form
- 2 photograph of the specified size (4x6cm), eye-centered, plain background.
- Passport, in original (with a minimum validity of six months)
- A copy of ID card
- A copy of permanent residence
- A copy of Birth certificate in case there is a child acompanying
- Labour contact or employment agreement

Cases of China visa and visa fee exemption.
China offers visa exemption for diplomatic, official business, and ordinary passport holders coming to China for work. (applicable to their spouses, children traveling with one of the three types of passports mentioned above) , the current duration of stay is 30 days.
Family members (spouse, children, parents) of officials, administrative and technical staff of diplomatic missions and consulates of the two countries visiting relatives being officials , employees of representative offices in that country, are exempt from visa fees
